Feel free to feed your child a diverse selection of foods.

Here are some excellent food options to develop your child's oral tolerance to each allergen.

Some foods are similar to others, so they help develop oral tolerance to the same proteins. These are separated by a forward slash "/". For example, Cashews and Pistachios share similar proteins, so it is denoted as "Cashews/Pistachios".

Cow's Milk:

  • Whole milk
  • Full fat yogurt
  • Cheese

Eggs:

  • Egg whites and yolks

Peanuts:

  • Peanuts
  • Peanut butter
  • Peanut flour (powder)
  • Peanut puffs

Tree Nuts:

Feed various nuts or butter from the four different groups:

  1. Almonds
  2. Cashews/Pistachios
  3. Hazelnuts
  4. Walnuts/Pecans

Fish:

  • Salmon
  • White Fish

Shellfish:

Feed various foods from the two different groups:

  1. Crustacean: Shrimp/Crab/Lobster
  2. Mollusk: Clam/Scallop/Oyster/Mussels/Squid/Octopus

Wheat:

  • Whole wheat bread
  • Whole-grain cereal
  • Baguette
  • Creamy wheat (Farina)

Soy:

  • Edamame
  • Tofu

Sesame:

  • Hummus
  • Tahini

Fruits and vegetables:

  • A diverse variety of raw fruits and vegetables

Note: Raw fruits and vegetables are essential because some allergens in these foods are heat-labile, which means oral tolerance can't be developed if cooked.

Meats:

  • Beef
  • Chicken
  • Pork
  • Turkey

Environmental allergens:

  • Grass
  • Pollens
  • Local Honey*

*Guidelines recommend waiting until your child is older than 12 months due to the risk of infant botulism.

Note: It is crucial to facilitate exposure to environmental allergens as often as possible despite not being part of the Oral Calendar.
